Weight Watchers Weigh-In, Week #2

Last week, I made an embarrassing and honest admission here on my blog. I put it all out there and shared that I joined Weight Watchers, revealing my starting weight and how much I gained or lost after the first week on the program. Sharing about my weight was not easy, but I know that having that extra bit of accountability and prayer support from you guys will keep me on track! And you were SO encouraging to me! I heaved a big sigh of relief when I found out how many of you were in the same boat, making choices to better yourselves and be good stewards of the body God gave you. I’m in good company!

This week, my husband Guy and I stayed on track, counting our points values for foods and choosing healthy options. On Super Bowl Sunday, we went out to lunch after church and we both ordered the small cup of tortilla soup at Island’s. I’ll admit, it hurt a little. Normally, I would go for a chicken burger with fries! I can certainly have that on Weight Watchers, but we both wanted to save points to eat a treat or two at our friend’s Super Bowl Party later so we stuck with the soup—which was delicious! Guy even took the extra tortilla chips off his plate and gave them to the boys so he wouldn’t be tempted. I was impressed.

I have had a hard time with the idea of taking any “before” pictures. I’m always trying to get the best angle of myself, not the worst, so this goes against my nature. Finally, I mustered the courage to take these pictures though I seriously considered only posting the side view one and not the one from the front. Oh, the muffin top—I’m just owning it. If children are nearby, shield their eyes from the horror! Ha!

Get Ready. This next one's not pretty, people.

All in all, this week went very smoothly. The program is EASY to follow. I shared last week about how much I love the Weight Watchers app and my affection for it is growing. Here’s a quick pick of how it keeps track of my daily points:

My favorite part of the app is the “Connect” feature. Whenever I’m feeling a little snacky or unmotivated, I go on there and see pictures of other members and read their encouraging stories. It helps me every time! And then there are videos from Oprah. She knows what she’s talking about when it comes to food and weight loss. Every Thursday she goes live on the app to encourage us!

That brings me to this week’s progress. Did I gain? Lose? Drum roll, please…..

I did it! I survived a party with all kinds of delicious food and enjoyed myself without overdoing it! I know there may be weeks when I gain, but I'm determined to stick to my plan and take one week at a time. Success for me isn't just the number on the scale. It's growing in the Fruit of the Spirit of self-control and having the peace of mind that I'm taking care of myself! I hope that you too will make some good decisions about that area of your life where you are saying, "enough is enough" and  that tomorrow, you will be one day closer to your goals!

YOUR TURN: I’ll take any words of encouragement or prayers you will give me! And if you are on a similar path, please let me know! I’ll pray for you too!
